In late 2015, I decided to quit graduate school abroad and move back home. It was the most terrifying and most peaceful moment of my life. I mourned my departure from academia and from the future profession as a professor I spent years dwelling on. I loved what I did, but I was being called to serve.
"The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."
Fastforward nine months. Growing up, my parents indulged every creative inclination I had, from beading to watercoloring and it has brought me the most joy in life. So when I returned home, I knew that I wanted to bring glory to God using the creativity and the skills He has given me. When I was thinking about names for my site and business, I wanted something that had a deeper meaning (total English major move, I know).
this little delight of mine pays homage to the verse, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4), the song, This Little Light of Mine, and my family name, DeYoung.
So here we are, I still have no idea in what capacity I am meant to serve long-term or how it will manifest itself, but for now, I choose to delight in the Lord, always.
Regardless, I pray that this site showcases God's incredible creation and delights and encourages at least a few of its visitors.
I'm delighted to make your acquaintance,
